Children in Need
I must again congratulate all the children who made a great effort and came in spotty clothes today. There were also some notable efforts from staff!
So far the total raised is £87.90. The cake stall was also a feast of mouth-watering delights, evidence of some people’s creative talents in the kitchen. My donation was I’m afraid with the help of Mr Kipling! Thank you to everybody who contributed.
Football
The Year 5/6 team was in action again on Monday night in the Taunton Small Schools League. This time they met some stronger opposition and came away with two defeats and two draws. David was probably the star of the night with some outstanding saves (and no distractions from Mr Mills) closely followed by our highly rated new squad member, Amber! She has apparently stated that football was fun, but this has yet to be heard in public. J
Well done to:
- Ollie, Anton, Sam, Harvey, Amber, David and Robbie
Supporting the Friends
The Friends is an essential part of our school and is an integral part of the school community. Their aim is to organize activities and events to raise money for extra equipment needed by the school that is not provided by the Local Authority. In order for these fundraising activities to be a success they rely on the support of the whole school to give time to help at events or for instance donate items for raffles. It is essential that everybody tries to make a contribution to the fundraising efforts of the Friends at some point during the year, as without these the Friends would not be able to continue.
In its time the Friends has raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance the children’s education and the facilities in school in general. In the main the Friends funds are for the ‘extras’ not provided by the school budget, that make the children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting. Usually the School will have a ‘shopping list’ of items that it would like to purchase and sometimes this will be as a result of the children asking for something such as new playground equipment or at other times it will be for resources to improve a particular area of the Curriculum or school environment.
You can be sure that in supporting our school, your and everybody’s child will feel the benefit. Currently there is a danger that the Friends will no longer be able to carry out their duties due to lack of volunteers. If this is the case then funds will decrease and such things as subsidised trips will have to be paid for in full. So in order to continue their fantastic work please consider if you have anything at all to offer and speak to any of the Committee members. Alternatively pop a note in the post box outside the school office marked for the attention of the Friends. Make sure you include your name and how we can contact you. Thank you.
Festive Fayre
A big thank you to everyone who helped and supported us at the Festive Fayre last Saturday. It was enjoyed all who came and we were pleased to add £638 to our funds.
Thank you. The Friends.
Lost Secateurs
A pair were left behind at the Fayre last week, if you have picked them up or put them somewhere safe, please could you hand them in to the school office so we can reunite them with their owner. Many thanks.
School Photographs
Your child will be bringing home with them their individual photo tonight, please could all orders and payment be returned by Thursday 1st December so they can be processed before Christmas.
