Plans are now well underway for our Victorian Christmas Fayre on the last day of term (Friday 18th December). As well as raising essential funds for the benefit of all of our children here at Churchstanton Primary, we also want the Christmas Fayre to be a very sociable occasion!
There will be musical entertainment and carol singing, delicious hot food (soup, baked potatoes, sausages in rolls, mince pies etc) , warming drinks (mulled wine, hot chocolate, tea & coffee), a selection of stalls to browse at (and buy from!), Christmas trees and wreaths to buy, plus tombolas and games of chance to keep everyone amused. Last but not least - Father Christmas will be stopping by to meet the children!
As you can probably imagine, all of this takes a lot of organising - so why do we put ourselves through it? Well, if we didn't do any fundraising, the children would miss out on so much - because the normal school budget cannot stretch to accommodate everything. Just for example, did you know that this year's residential trip to Kilve for Years 5 & 6 was subsidised by the Friends to the tune of £1052? Historically, the Friends have always subsidised Kilve - so when your children are old enough to go, we very much hope that the Friends will still be around to support you when the time comes to finance it. We are also behind the subsidies for Class trips, the Easter Eggs that are bought for the annual hunt, Christmas gifts for every pupil from Father Christmas and the maintenance of the school swimming pool - to name but a few!
So, here is where you come in! We really need you to help us by supporting the following:
Jam Jar Mufti Day - Friday 4th December 2009
Mr Mills has very kindly agreed to a non-uniform day on Friday 4th December, in aid of the Victorian Christmas Fayre. If your child would like to participate, they will need to bring in a filled jam jar for our Christmas Tombola stall. We had a magnificent response when we did this back in the summer and are keen to repeat it. The variety was amazing, so please feel free to fill the jar with whatever treats and goodies take your fancy! If your child would like to decorate the outside of the jar with tinsel, stickers, glitter glue or anything else - then so much the better! Members of the Friends committee will be on duty by the school gates to collect in the jam jars on the morning of the 4th December.
Christmas Hamper Raffle
Your child will shortly be bringing home 5 x £1 strips of raffle tickets to sell on behalf of the school for the hamper raffle that will be drawn at the Victorian Christmas Fayre. Full instructions on what to do will be sent out with the tickets. In addition, we would really appreciate it if next time you go shopping, you could buy a little Christmas treat of some sort to go in the hamper - so that every ticket sold will become pure profit for the school. If you could please send in your donation on the 4th December, we would be very grateful.
Many thanks (in advance!) for your generosity.
