70’s Night feedback!

For conclusive proof that the Seventies were a fantastic decade for music and fashion, you would need to have looked no further than Churchinford Village Hall last Saturday night!

Our revellers were aged from around 8 to 80+ and the event also had a real community feel to it - with many locals choosing to spend their Saturday night with us. So an enormous “thank you” to everyone who turned out to support the school………….and extra brownie points to anyone who arrived in Fancy Dress! There really were some marvellously inventive (not to mention colourful) outfits, which added greatly to the atmosphere of the evening.

Your Friends committee have been delighted to receive lots of positive feedback about the evening – which makes all the hard work worthwhile! Talking of hard work, we would like to thank:-

  • Stuart and Dave for setting up the stage
  • Jackie Durman for kindly setting up the bar & doing a few stints behind it on the night
  • Lorraine, Bert, Hannah & Abi for manning the barbecue all night
  • Adella & Gill for toiling away behind the bar
  • Vinnie & Stuart Murray for stepping into the breach to allow Adella & Gill time off for good behaviour (and a bop on the dance floor!)
  • Keri, Julie & Mandy for selling raffle tickets on the night
  • Richard & Julie for running the mini-bus service
  • Mandy for her sterling work on the door
  • Anyone who assisted in any other way either before or on the night
  • Everyone who kindly turned out on Sunday morning for the clear up!

We are delighted to report that the 70’s Night raised just under £700 for school funds. Why not come along to school on Monday night to hear the Friends review of the past fundraising year? Find out what we have been doing to raise funds and more importantly - what we have been spending the money on.

One thing’s for sure – we are continually playing “catch up”! There are a number of regular commitments that we honour year in year out, such as the Kilve residential trip subsidy and subsidies for the annual class trips. Then there are the one-offs – which we have to prioritise through the year because there is never enough money to go round.

So, if you know of an excellent money-spinner, or if you would like us to do something in particular………………..our door is always open!
