Snow Procedure

It is in the news again today about the possibility of cold weather taking a hold next week.  I have therefore included the following message to remind parents of the procedures for closing the school.

Once the decision to close has been made, a message would be telephoned to Orchard FM (102.6 FM) and Somerset Sound (95.5 FM & 1566 AM) who will then broadcast this news.  It will also be posted onto the school website and a recorded message will be available on the following snowline 01823 478267 from 7.45 am.

School Lunches

As from the start next Term (April) there will no longer be any provision for hot school lunches at Churchstanton.  I understand that this is due to a dispute between Upottery School and Devon Norse, of which is beyond my control.  If you feel aggrieved by this situation it may be worth complaining to Devon County Council.  Governors will however be looking into continuing the provision of free school meals.

Class Contacts

It has been suggested that each class could compile a contact list that would be available to parents.  The list would contain alongside the child’s name, name(s) of their parent(s)/carer and a contact telephone number.  This would then help parents liaise over matters such as collection from school or those all important party invitations!  Please sign the slip below if you are willing to disclose the above information to other parents in the school.

Please can Reception and Year 1 children bring in a clean old sock next week, as we are making sock puppets.

Cake Sale

Thank you for supporting the cake sale last week, £30.15 was raised for Class 1.

BBC’s Countryfile programme is featuring the Blackdown Hills this Sunday at 7pm on BBC1. It will include a piece on the Churchinford Community Shop, which was filmed a couple of weeks ago.

At the Churchinford Village Market tomorrow morning, all proceeds from the sale of refreshments will be going towards the Community Shop fund – to help buy a permanent shop on the new housing development.
